# Data methodology

How to interpret ScrollStash observations, source coverage, freshness, rankings, and their limits.

## Sources and observations

ScrollStash focuses on US ecommerce brands, organizing observations from the Meta Ad Library, brand websites, and third-party sources. Meta Ad Library observations cover Facebook and Instagram ads and their destination pages. Website observations help identify page types and technologies. Traffic estimates and rankings use third-party data, including Similarweb, where available.

A record describes what was observed in its source. A page classification or detected technology can be incomplete or incorrect and may change. Consult the linked brand page or original source before relying on a detail.

## Activity is not performance

No. Ad counts and observed longevity describe advertising activity. They do not establish spend, reach, engagement, conversions, revenue, ROAS, or profitability. ScrollStash does not provide those campaign results.

Most-advertised collections order pages by observed ad count. Traffic estimates and rankings describe the source metric and comparison set; they are not verified sales or market share. A ranking or collection position is not an endorsement.

## Freshness and dates

Freshness varies by source and brand. Use the observation date or as_of value supplied with a record when available. A page refresh or cache timestamp is not evidence of a new observation. When no observation date is supplied, freshness is unknown.

Different sources refresh on different schedules. An observed active ad may have stopped since the last collection. An observed start date and the span between observations do not prove continuous delivery between those dates.

## Coverage and missing data

Coverage is limited to the brands, pages, sources, and periods collected. It is not a complete census of a market or every campaign a brand runs. Missing records do not prove that a brand has no ads, traffic, technology, or activity.

Counts depend on the selected filters, time window, source, and unit being counted. Do not compare ad observations, unique ads, pages, and brands as if they were the same measure. Use the count and scope returned by the relevant page or API response.

## Citing and accessing the data

Cite the specific ScrollStash page or API resource, the metric and filters used, and its observation date or as_of value when supplied. Keep missing values and uncertainty visible; do not infer campaign results from activity signals.

Public discovery documents explain the product and link to its documentation. They do not expand data access. Authentication, plan limits, and other access controls continue to apply. Use the maintained API and MCP documentation for programmatic access.
